Fourmaux claimed the morning's opening stage, though Toyota's Sébastien Ogier briefly snatched the overall lead by 0.7 seconds. Neuville then took stage two, but it was Fourmaux who surged to the summit of the leaderboard as Ogier suffered a costly puncture and dropped down the order.

Oliver Solberg (Toyota) sealed the final stage before the midday service, placing him third as the highest-running championship contender. He is closely followed by fellow title hopeful Sami Pajari (Toyota), with Solberg trailing the leader by 8.1 seconds and Pajari sitting 10.7 seconds back.

Championship leader Elfyn Evans (Toyota) is currently sixth, 24.9 seconds off the pace. With bright sunshine and bone-dry conditions, the Welshman has borne the brunt of sweeping the loose gravel roads.

Action resumes this afternoon with a repeat loop of the morning stages, headlined by the 23.23-kilometre Monti di Alà test.
