Some fans werent quite sure what to expect when Elba was first announced as a Coachella act. And its true that he doesnt exactly fit the traditional festival performer profile; hes not a Beyonce or a Billie Eilish. People were like, Whats he gonna do-a speech? . But the response to his set in the Yuma tent was overwhelmingly positive.

A number of people stated that Elba showing off his DJ talents was a festival highlight, while others claimed that this was proof Elba can do anything. Meanwhile, music journalist Eve Barlow tweeted that the crowd in the Yuma tent was the most diverse shed seen at the festival, saying: This is the biggest demographic cross-section I have ever seen at Coachella. Hes currently spinning inner city. House music will save the world.

Elba isnt exactly a newcomer to the decks; hes been DJing as DJ Big Drills for years now, and recently charted at Number 11 in the United Kingdom with Boasty, a collaboration with British grime artist Wiley.

Hes also brought his passion for DJing into his latest acting project; in the Netflix comedy series Turn Up Charlie (which he also created), Elba plays a washed up wannabe superstar trying to break into the EDM scene.

Now that hes smashed a set at Coachella, who knows whats next for Elba. A slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, maybe?
