Arsenal midfielder questioned by police for racially abusing airport staff

Granit Xhaka allegedly racially abused an airport staff who refused his friend entry to a flight.

Xhaka was said to have abused the woman, an airport staff on Monday, January 23 for not allowing his friend to board a plane at the Heathrow Airport.

According to the , the midfielder was at the airport to drop off a friend and fellow footballer Leonard Lekaj for a flight.

Lekaj, however, was late for his flight and was refused entry which infuriated Xhaka.

The Swiss star reportedly called a check-in staff 'f****** white b****', which prompted airport security to call the police.

“Police were called at 19:29hrs on Monday, 23 January following an allegation that a member of staff had been racially abused at Heathrow Airport, Terminal Five,” a Metropolitan police spokesperson said inn a statement.

“The allegation was made by a third party. Officers attended and spoke with a man in his 20s. He was not arrested.

“He voluntarily attended a west London police station where he was interviewed under caution. Enquires continue.”

Arsenal have not made any statement on the incident.
