Former captain of the Falconets, Gloria Ofoegbu may quit football after undergoing a surgery to correct an knee injury that has kept her out of action for four months.

Ofoegbu suffered the injury at the 2014 African Women Championship in Namibia which has been unable to heal.

She recently underwent surgery at the Reddington Hospital in Lagos but experts have warned that she might have to quit football because she was not operated on early enough.

Rivers Angels media Officer, Jessica Amadi, Ofoeg­bu told The Sun Newspaper that the surgery was facilitated by a Port Harcourt based businessman, who brought in surgeons from the United States of America.

The surgeons diag­nosed her of ‘Meniscus tear’ and a ’Grade IV Chondral Damage’ to her knee.

Ofoegbu was once accused by Super Falcons doctor, Omoye Akhigle and the team physiotherapist of nursing a chronic right knee injury for five years.
