Racist abuse targeting French international Kylian Mbappé during the World Cup has been condemned by George Weah, head of FIFA's expert group defending players' rights.

The Real Madrid forward was subjected to offensive comments from Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla after his penalty goal eliminated the South American nation from the 2026 World Cup last Saturday.

"We stand in full solidarity with Kylian Mbappé and condemn these insults in the strongest possible terms. Football has always been a game of respect and tolerance. Racism has no place in sports. It is a crime," said former Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan striker George Weah.

Meanwhile, FIFA has confirmed it is investigating further alleged cases of racism during the 2026 World Cup, which may involve players from various teams.
