After finishing the just concluded Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Warri Wolves striker Gbolahan Salami is set to be honoured by the Rashidi Yekini Foundation.

The League Management Company (LMC) have named the highest goalscorer award after late.

The foundation have now revealed that Salami will be honoured on Thursday, December 3 at the media centre of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.

The sum of N100, 000 will be awarded the Super Eagles striker and one of the soccer boots used by the late ‘Goal-King’ would be also presented to 17-goal king.

According to the counsel of the late Yekini, the daughters of Yekini and Yemisi will be at the event.

“The main objective of the foundation is to etch the name ‘Yekini’ in the sand of times, because we have come to realise that, it won’t be easy organising a memorial event for him annually, but instituting an award in our league where my late client had recorded the highest goals severally and also with the national team would be more logical”, the counsel of late Yekini, Jubril Olanrewaju Mohammed is quoted to say by .
