Fulani group threatens to sue ex-minister for calling them Tsetse flies

A Fulani group has threatened to sue former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode for describing members of the tribe as tsetse flies, locusts and leeches.

The group, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore gave the warning on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, through its National President, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo.

“We want Femi Fani-Kayode to publicly withdraw his hate speech and wrongful criminal allegation against the entire Fulani race and in particular, immediately to avoid legal action by us,” Bodejo said after a meeting with leaders of South-West organisations in Abuja.

“We want FG to deal with anybody no matter highly place in Nigeria if they did not guide their utterances,” he added.

Fani-Kayode had condemned the Fulanis after the abduction of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Olu Falae by a group of herdsmen.

The former minister had also threatened that the Fulani herdsmen would face severe consequences if they didn’t leave the South West.
