Portuguese international Amanda Cavalcanti has officially joined Rote Raben Vilsbiburg, a team competing in the German Bundesliga. The 24-year-old, 1.88-meter (6'2") middle blocker becomes the third player in her position on the squad.
Born in Brazil – and sister to handball players Alexandre Cavalcanti and Gabriel Cavalcanti – the middle blocker arrives in Germany after seven years with Sporting. She will link up with compatriot Alice Clemente (formerly of Benfica), a 23-year-old outside hitter who is also part of the Vilsbiburg team.
Rote Raben coach Guillermo Gallardo expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, highlighting the player's potential.
“She is a young and talented player who is still eager to learn a lot,” the coach stated, adding that despite not being among the tallest middle blockers, Amanda Cavalcanti “is quick and possesses an enormous jumping ability.”
