Vučić extended his gratitude to the Boxing Federation and all the boxers for their magnificent achievements.

For those unfamiliar, Serbia secured four medals at the recently concluded European Championship in Sofia: two golds, one silver, and one bronze. This places us as the fourth most successful nation. Ahead of us are the Russians, Turks, and Azerbaijanis—that Eastern school of boxing, I'd say. What's particularly noteworthy is that, for the first time, we've surpassed Ukraine. If this were a World Championship, we'd face tougher competition from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, but it's clear that boxing is gradually shifting eastward. Our male and female athletes fought fantastically. I must emphasize that this is a tremendous success for the Boxing Federation, considering we previously had no significant results. - Aleksandar Vučić

He added that boxing had nearly faded away a few years ago, whereas now, Serbian boxers are consistently bringing home a significant number of medals from every competition.

I only hope that some will qualify for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, and beyond, so we can once again celebrate an Olympic medal. It's incredibly difficult to win world and Olympic medals these days. I want to thank our Serbian, Russian, and Cuban coaches. They all work together and have contributed to this immense success. - Aleksandar Vučić
