The plane flying the players back to Manchester after they featured in a game against Red Star Belgrade in a European Cup clash stopped in Munich to refuel but never got off the Munich-Reim Runway into the air as it hit a slush of Ice dumped on the track, before running into a house.

Now known as the #FlowersOfManchester, the club remembers the death of its eleven players, amongst the 23 fatalities recorded in the crash.

Amongst the dead were also three club officialas who went with the team.

"Walter Crickmer always reminded me of a little dynamo, nothing was too much trouble. Tom Curry was someone we looked up to like a father. And Bert Whalley was certainly a tremendous help to me when I was a part-timer." - Bill Foulkes
