FG denies Benin Republic invasion reports

Contrary to reports that said the Emir of Okuta confirmed the incident, the Royal father told the DG that he never said anything like that.

The Director-General, National Boundary Commission (NBC), Dr Mohammed Bose Ahmad, on a verification tour, said no part of Nigeria has been invaded by Benin Republic.

Ahmad said this while paying a courtesy visit to to the Emir of Okuta in Baruten LG, Alhaji Idris Sero Abubakar.

He said he was in the town of Okuta to see for himself, the real situation on ground, adding that the false report of Benin Republic invading 16 villages in Nigeria, could lead to an ugly diplomatic situation.

Also, the Kwara state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affair, expressed his displeasure, saying that it painted Nigeria in bad light.

Okuta is the border town between Nigeria and Benin Republic in Baruten local government area of Kwara State.
