Fenerbahce Complete Stunning Comeback to Topple Olympiacos as Vezenkov Airballs Crucial Final Shot
Olympiacos had an opportunity to force overtime on their final possession as Sasha Vezenkov found himself wide open, but he airballed the shot, sealing the victory for Fenerbahce in one of the most thrilling games of the week.
It was a grueling defensive battle in Athens, with the hosts holding Fenerbahce to just 24 first-half points. However, Sarunas Jasikevicius's side chipped away at the deficit, clawing back from 15 points down to complete a sensational comeback in the closing stages.
Shavon Shields led the Turkish side with 17 points, Wade Baldwin added 14, and Shane Larkin contributed 13 points for Fenerbahce.
On the other end, Vezenkov posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Codi Miller-McIntyre scored 12, and Tyson Ward added 11. Olympiacos were notably depleted, missing Tyler Dorsey, Jean Montero, and Evan Fournier.
Fenerbahce now share top spot in the EuroLeague with a 6-1 record and will travel to face Valencia in the next round. Meanwhile, Olympiacos dropped to 5-2 ahead of their upcoming clash against Besiktas in Istanbul.
