The suspects, identified as Rose Daniel and Blessing John, were arrested in Kuje while attempting to escape with an abducted four-year-old girl. The child was rescued and reunited with her family.

According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Udeh, the women had previously been arrested in 2025 for abducting four children from different communities across the FCT.

“These women right here with me today are suspects. They are alleged to be adopters. They abduct children from various communities across the FCT.

“In 2025, they were arrested for abducting about 4 children. Two were twins, and the other two were from different locations.

“Their names are Blessing and Rose, and they are both from Benue State. In 2025, when we caught them, we rescued two children, while the other two had already been sold for 1.5 million each.

“They served their term for four months, and they went again after serving their term; they went back to adopt a little girl.

“One thing about these people is that they would wear a hijab. Blessing is a Christian but wears this Hijab and uses it to abduct these children when they send them out on errands, and nobody is watching; they just wear the hijab over them, adopt these children, and sell them outside FCT.”

The police said the two suspects served four months in prison after their previous arrest before allegedly returning to child abduction.

One of the suspects, Blessing John, reportedly expressed remorse over her actions, stating that she is “dying inside” because she cannot forgive herself.

The FCT Police Command said the investigation into the latest incident is ongoing.
