Exclusive: Finidi George reacts to Enyimba's tough CAF Confederation Cup round of 32 draw

The former Super Eagles winger is in a chat with a pulse. ng on Tuesday ( 26 October 2021) from his base in Aba immediately after the draw which took place in Cairo, described the draw as a tough draw but declared that Enyimba FC is up to the task.

The manager acknowledged that playing against any North teams on the continent has never been easy as teams from that region of the continent have been dominating Nigerian clubs over the years but Enyimba has what it takes to overcome Al-Itihad. 

Finidi said: " They're a good side but I think we are up to the task". 

The 1995 UEFA Champions League winner speaks further on the threat posed by the North African teams in CAF in the inter-club competition and mentions adequate preparation as a way to dislodge them.

" North African team have dominated Caf competitions over the years so we know it's going to be a big challenge but at the same time, we know how to prepare for the game and overcome," Enyimba told pulse.ng

Enyimba defeated Diambars of Senegal by 4-0 on aggregate to qualify for the round of 32 while Al-Ittihad dropped from the CAF Champions League when they fell to the superior firepower of Esperance of Tunisia by 1-0 on aggregate in a fiercely contested encounter. 

The first leg of the encounter will be held in Libya on November 28, while the second leg will take place in Aba on December 5 2021.

The winner of the game over the two legs will qualify into the group stage of four teams each in a group, where teams will play a round-robin game with each member of the group and the top two finishers will qualify for the quarter-finals.
