Despite gearing up for an unprecedented season in league history, the 41-year-old basketball icon opted not to continue with the Lakers, where he could have completed his ninth season. Instead, ruling out retirement, James will seek a new team for what will likely be the final chapter of his illustrious career.

According to sources cited by Charania, the Golden State Warriors plan to make a bid for LeBron James as soon as the free agency negotiation period opens later this Tuesday.

Last season, James, who turns 42 in December, saw his record-setting streak of 21 consecutive All-NBA team selections come to an end. The athlete participated in only 60 games, having missed the first month of competition due to sciatica affecting his lower back and right leg.

Even so, the four-time champion and four-time NBA MVP continues to display a remarkable level of performance for his age. Last season, he was selected for the All-Star Game, averaging 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game, with a 51.5% field goal efficiency.

His performance remained high in the playoffs, where his playing time increased from 33.2 to 38.4 minutes per game. In the decisive matches, his averages rose to 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 6.7 rebounds, leading the Lakers to a first-round victory against the Houston Rockets, at a time when Luka Doncic was absent due to injury.
