With cases of unpaid salaries of players becoming a dime a dozen in Nigeria, there is good news from the camp of El-Kanemi Warriors.

The players of the El-Kanemi Warriors who finished in 13th place from the last Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season have been paid seven months salaries owed to them by the management of the club.

Borno State government intervene and approved the sum of N75 million to clear the players’ outstanding wages.

The players are however still owed three months salaries each.

“The players have been paid their salary and outstanding match bonuses. It was sent into their bank accounts,” the club media officer Anthony Obaseki told Goal.

“We are still expecting more from the government in order to kick off preparation for the new season on time.

“It was tough last season and we are prepared to do better when the league resumes.”
