Egyptian FA President: This is Discrimination and a Crime, We Demand an Investigation
The President of the Egyptian Football Association, Abo Rida, has called for an investigation into the entire officiating team, including the VAR referees, following decisions made during yesterday's Round of 16 clash against Argentina. The organization has filed an official complaint with FIFA, demanding the removal of these officials from the World Cup. According to Abo Rida, "discrimination against the Egyptian national team" occurred, which he labeled a "crime."
An Egyptian goal was disallowed after a VAR review for a foul on Lisandro Martinez. Later, the "Pharaohs" claimed that before Enzo Fernandez's winning goal, there was a foul by Julian Alvarez on Mohamed Salah that should have resulted in a penalty. "Pharaohs" forward Mostafa Ziko sensationally stated that the match was "fixed" for Argentina to advance. Egypt's coach, Hossam Hassan, also sharply criticized referee François Letexier.
"Hany Abu Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Federation, has filed a complaint with FIFA, requesting an investigation into French referee François Letexier following serious errors made by the team of referees and the double standards that led to the Egyptian team losing the match and exiting the World Cup," the federation announced.
