During his Wimbledon fairytale, 23-year-old Fery is 'simply' staying with his parents, who live a stone's throw from the tennis complex near London. He has been visiting Wimbledon with his affluent father and tennis-playing mother since childhood, and now he's shining on its courts himself. Ranked 114th in the world, after months sidelined by injury, he's captivating British and international tennis fans alike. His Dutch coach calls it 'unreal'.

'This is a dream'

"This is a dream for everyone on the entire team, for everyone who works with him daily. It's truly surreal how it's unfolding, and it's hard to describe. Perhaps it will sink in later, once things have settled," Benard told NU.nl. His protégé's impressive performances are making headlines globally, and consequently, attention for both Fery and Benard is growing daily.

Move to London

Now that Fery is guaranteed a spot in the world's top forty, his tennis future looks incredibly bright. He's automatically qualified for all tournaments, which opens up new possibilities for Benard. "My girlfriend and I are now considering a move to London. Arthur trains at the national training center in Roehampton, which would make things easier, for training weeks for example."

Extended B&B Stay

But first, the semi-final against newly crowned Roland Garros champion Alexander Zverev, the world number three. Benard hopes the owner of the bed & breakfast where he's staying during Wimbledon will be accommodating and allow him an extended stay. "I've been in the same B&B for two weeks now, within walking distance of Wimbledon. Every morning, we walk from there to his parents' house, where Arthur sleeps. We're enjoying every moment, and I'd love to extend my stay until after the final on Sunday."
