According to Poirier himself, his major sponsor, Bud Light, immediately terminated their business relationship following his June 21st arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

"They terminated my contract immediately," Poirier stated on "The Ariel Helwani Show." "...It's all good, man. I don't need that damn poison in my life. ...It sucks that my family is losing out on the money that was left on the deal with them, and it was a couple hundred thousand dollars. But also, if I'm representing something and promoting something that I'm not going to be involved in and promote, then so be it."

The 37-year-old Poirier revealed he has a recurring struggle with alcohol, noting that the problem resurfaced after his competitive career ended in July 2025. Poirier stated he sought help after the arrest and apologized for the incident, during which bodycam footage captured him insulting flight attendants and challenging the responding police officer.

"There are a lot of people who drink responsibly," Poirier said. "I'm not one of them. If you can drink responsibly, have fun. Drink Bud Light. Drink whatever the hell you want. Be responsible. Have a good time. I'm not that guy."
