In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, when asked to compare the more concerning injury between Alcaraz's wrist and Jannik Sinner's knee, Daniele focused his attention on the Spanish tennis star's situation.

The Italian doctor highlighted the ambiguity surrounding the former world number one's physical ailment. "In Spain, the exact nature of Carlos's wrist injury isn't clear. Now, speculation points towards some mental fragility," he stated.

According to Gianni Daniele, Alcaraz might be struggling to rediscover his top form, which could have led him into "a kind of depression, a vicious cycle preventing him from regaining confidence." The medical commission president further added that "doubts are starting to take over," expressing regret over the athlete's predicament.
