5 things ex-minister pioneered

Mr. Diezani Alison Madueke has been in the eye of the storm lately, for alleged money laundering offences.

Here are the 5 firsts of ex-petroleum minister

1. Mrs. Alison-Madueke is the first woman to hold the position of Minister of Petroleum Resources in Nigeria.

2. In October 2010 she became the first woman to head a country delegation at the annual Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) conference.

3. She was also the first female Minister of Transportation.

4. She was the first woman to be appointed to the board of Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria.

5. On the 27th of November, 2014 she got elected as the first female President of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

The former petroleum minister was arrested in London for corruption related offences, and is currently being investigated by the UK National crime Agency.
