De Zerbi: We Didn't Play as Well as in Previous Matches, but We Got the Win

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi expressed his satisfaction following a 3-1 victory over Coventry, securing the London club's first Premier League win of the season. However, the Italian tactician admitted his side were not at their best despite finally collecting all three points, praising his players for showing character and responding well after conceding an equalizer.

"I am very pleased with the result, the attitude, the spirit, and the reaction after conceding the goal. Honestly, we didn't play as well as in previous matches. But credit must go to the opposition, as they defended very well and stayed compact. When we attacked down the flanks through Kudus and Robertson, we didn't move the ball with enough pace. Perhaps we were too predictable with a back three. We opted for that system mainly due to injuries," De Zerbi said.

"Kudus was on the right wing, Robertson on the left, and we also used three players behind the striker with different profiles. We scored two goals thanks to those players, but we shouldn't overlook Solanke, who put in a very good performance," the manager added.

He also highlighted the return of Dejan Kulusevski, who made his long-awaited comeback after nearly 18 months on the sidelines due to injury.

"Dejan Kulusevski's return was a fantastic moment. He is an incredible person, and we celebrated with him in the dressing room after the match. Perhaps that was the most important thing alongside the victory," De Zerbi stated.

"Now we have to realize that we can win games, because after two or three seasons like this, the psychological aspect becomes crucial. We must thank the supporters, especially in the closing stages when they were incredible. They have suffered a lot. We need to keep working and definitely improve the quality of our football, but we are a good team—a very good team," the Italian concluded.
