Seven months ago the door was shut to him at United, but on Thursday, the infamous David Moyes would resume coaching duties in the unlikeliest place
Moyes was accused of being technically deficient and tactically unqualified to handle a club like Man United with the class of players that the Red Devils parade and now he has landed in Spain; where football is mostly technical than it is analytic and tactical than it is entertaining
After he was disgraced out of Man United, following a poor finish in the EPL last season; his successor, Louis Van Gaal still has not been able to find the solutions to the problems
United’s present state under Van Gaal; with a record as the worst start to the league since 1986, may prove a point that David Moyes was not the problem neither was he part of it
While at Everton, Moyes maintained consistency with the team, keeping them in the league for 11 years as manager and even qualifying them for the UEFA Champions League and Europa Cup
Spanish club, Real Sociedad have put faith in the 51 year-old Scot to possibly see them out of a threatening position which they currently occupy in the La Liga after a poor start to the season under departed Jagoba Arasate
A 15 position in 11 games is not a good record for a club which tasted Champions League action as recently as last season where they faced David Moyes’ Manchester United
The club beams with the hope of a European slot come next season, now David Moyes has a chance to prove himself for the short period he is to stay at the club
According to reports on the deal, he is to sign a deal which will keep him as the manager of the club until the 2015/2016 season
Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague said in support of the deal that:
Moyes can rely on the past successful history of English managers who had worked in outside England before him, notably Sir Bobby Robson with Barcelona and Steve McLaren with Dutch club, Enschede
Balague thinks Moyes will not find it difficult to adapt as the club itself, has some of the Scot’s Britishness
But former England coach, Steve McLaren thinks the first 6 months would be difficult for the Scot
he said, narrating his experience.
