Welbeck limped off in the first half of the 2-2 draw with and manager Arsene Wenger said he was worried about the extent of the damage to the forward's right knee.

Arsenal have now announced that the 25-year-old has underwent surgery after specialists recommended it after scans and tests revealed significant cartilage damage.
The club also confirmed that the his full recovery will take approximately nine months which means he will miss the Euro 2016 Championship in the summer.
Since returning he scored five times, including the recent winner against Norwich City at Emirates Stadium.
