UFC President Dana White doesn't anticipate Conor McGregor stepping back into the octagon anytime soon.
It appears the Irish superstar won't be fighting again in the immediate future.
The Irishman made a disappointing return to the cage at UFC 329. His highly anticipated bout against Max Holloway lasted a mere 69 seconds before being stopped due to a knee injury McGregor sustained. This marked his first fight since July 2026, when he broke his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier.
Following his latest health setback, McGregor stated his intention to fight again by the summer of 2027. While he recently shared a video appearing to show him performing leg exercises, UFC executive Dana White doubts this changes the current prognosis.
“I have no idea,” White said at a press conference after a “Zuffa Boxing” event on Sunday, when asked about the video. “We FaceTimed him tonight, he was ringside, but you know, Conor McGregor is out for a year.”
In a previous statement, McGregor recalled tearing his ACL in a 2013 fight with Holloway and returning to competition nine months later. Because of this, he remains optimistic that “with today's advancements in regenerative medicine and improved training methods, it's entirely possible to return by next summer.”
The 38-year-old McGregor has repeatedly stated his goal is to fulfill the final fight on his UFC contract. Following his loss to Holloway, he remains without a win since January 2020.
