With over 60% of the global vote, CR7's sensational 2007/08 campaign for Manchester United — the year he lifted his first Ballon d'Or — sits comfortably at the top of the rankings.

The Portuguese international's overwhelming support leaves footballing royalty trailing in his wake, including longtime rival Lionel Messi, as well as icons such as Ronaldo Nazário, Zinedine Zidane, Marco van Basten, and Johan Cruyff.

Although this fan vote does not alter the official roll of honour — where Messi leads with eight Ballons d'Or to Ronaldo's five — it serves as a powerful testament to the Portuguese forward's enduring global legacy, whose 2008 peak continues to be regarded by fans as the benchmark for individual brilliance in modern football.

To participate in the vote, users must pay €1, which grants them an "iconic photo" and entry into a draw for two tickets to the 2026 Ballon d'Or Gala.
