Mark Waugh questions England and James Anderson commitment

Mark Waugh has accused James Anderson of looking disinterested at Lord's and believes England will struggle to fight back from their "heartless" defeat in the second AshesTest.

England were on cloud nine after winning the opening Test of the series by 169 runs in Cardiff, but they were brought back down to earth with a bang by a fired-up Australia side last week.

The tourists hammered Alastair Cook's side by 405 runs to draw level at 1-1 and have the momentum ahead of the third Test at Edgbaston, which begins on Wednesday.

Anderson returned match figures of 0-137 in north-west London, prompting legendary Australia batsman and current selector Waugh to question the commitment of England's spearhead.

He told Triple M's Willow Talk program: "I was really stunned by the lack of energy, particularly by James Anderson.

"The bowlers didn't look like they had anywhere near the same amount of energy. James Anderson just didn't look interested to me, which he can do on occasions."

Waugh feels that the manner of England's crushing defeat at Lord's will make it difficult for them to respond in Birmingham this week.

"I think the big worry (for England), anyone can lose a game, but it's how you lose it," he added.

"From my point of view, that was a really heartless performance. It was a terrible performance by England. I don't know how they're going to come back from that."
