Chris Jordan will replace the bowler in the Test and one-day squads for the matches against Pakistan.

Finn had already been forced to sit out the opening Test with a stress fracture, having worked his way back into international reckoning after a long spell in the cold.

Captain Alastair Cook described the injury as a "bitter blow" for Finn, with an England and Wales Cricket Board statement confirming the news.

It read: "Steven Finn has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour of the UAE with a bone stress injury to his left foot, which requires a period of off-loading to aid recovery.

"Finn will return to the UK today for further assessment.

"Pace bowler Chris Jordan has been called up to both the Test and ODI squads to face Pakistan and will arrive during the first Test."

England endured a tough first day in the field in Abu Dhabi as Pakistan closed on 286-4 and went about building on their promising first-innings total on Wednesday.
