Super Falcons of Nigeria forward, Asisat Oshoala is facing the worse goal drought period in her national team career as she fired another blank against the Black Queens of Ghana in the 2022 African Women Cup Of Nations qualifier, played in Lagos on Wednesday, 20 October 2021.

This takes her inability to score for the national team to six consecutive games in 2021.

The former Arsenal player had fired blank against Jamaica, Portugal and United States in the Summer series in June.

The lanky striker also failed to score against Mali and South Africa in the recently concluded Aisha Buhari Cup only for Monday gift and Vivian Ikechukwu to come from the bench to bail out the team dangerous situation.

She did not only fail to score against Ghana in the 2022 AWCON qualifier played in Lagos but her general contribution was well below average and this should be a source of concern for the technical crew.

With her statistics in the national team vis-a-vis her club performance would one say she is fast losing her magic in front of goals in the colors of the country.

The coaching crew has continued to play the former Robo FC forward despite her lack of goals or meaningful impact in front of goals at the expense of more productive players.

As Nigeria approaches the return leg against Ghana in Accra on Sunday, 24 October 2021, something has to give.

Oshoala has to lift her game and contribute meaningfully to help Nigeria go past the difficult Black Queens or coach Randy Waldrum should be bold enough to put the player on the bench in the overall interest of the team and play those that are best fit to achieve the desired result.
