After participating in , Smalling and his partner, Sam Cooke flew to Bali to enjoy their break.

The defender however had fans worried after pictures of his injury emerged online.

“Manchester United can clarify Chris Smalling has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him fainting on Sunday,’ Manchester United said in a statement.

“The 26-year-old defender was taken to the hospital and is now feeling fine.”

From the pictures, the 26-year-old defender is seen with bandages to his head, neck and left hand as he receives treatment.

He has however been given all-clear by the doctors to resume his vacation before returning to Carrington as planned later this month.

Smalling's representative from Wasserman Media Group also confirmed that the player suffered from severe case of food poisoning which led to his fainting.
