The Federal Government on Thursday, October 13 confirmed the release of 21 girls from the 200 abducted by Boko Haram in 2014.
Mikel took to Twitter to express his delight at the news.
The midfielder was recently in Nigeria ahead of Super Eagles2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia which they won 2-1.
While in Nigeria he took out to time to partake in some charity works which involve Borno State, where Chibok is located.

The #Empower Borno is a campaign to redevelop and empower Borno state which was ravaged by constant attack from Boko Haram.
