The brothers are said to be Yemeni trained assassins and one of them, Cherif was convicted on terrorism charges in 2008 for helping to transport fighters for the alleged purposes of jihad from France to Iraq. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Two of the suspects wanted in connection with Wednesday’s shooting at the Paris office of satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo have been identified as brothers, Cherif and Said Kouachi.

Cherif and Said are believed to be linked to the Yemen branch of Al-Qaeda and were allegedly heard shouting “The Prophet has been avenged after the killings.”
They were also seen brutally ending the life of an injured police officer by shooting him point-blank despite his pleas for mercy.
They are currently believed to be hiding out in a social housing complex in Reims, a city north-east of Paris.
