Carlos Alcaraz's Wardrobe Malfunction at US Open Comeback Draws Attention: Top Tennis Player's Body Part Unintentionally Visible

Carlos Alcaraz's return after nearly five months out with injury did not go unnoticed at the US Open on Monday. The Spanish top tennis player, world number 2, made a slight error in his outfit choice. During his match against Roman Safiullin, Alcaraz's nipple was repeatedly visible.

New York was clearly not quite ready for Alcaraz's return to the tennis court. A wrist injury had sidelined him since April, but he made his comeback at the US Open on Monday evening. His entrance was somewhat subdued, as the stadium was far from full early in the American afternoon. However, as the first set progressed, the empty seats in Arthur Ashe Stadium began to fill. Thousands of tennis fans witnessed a remarkable Alcaraz.

Wardrobe Malfunction

Not only did he appear rusty after 138 days without a match, but his appearance also drew attention. His right arm, the side of his wrist injury, was wrapped in a sleeve extending above the elbow, with his wrist in a cast underneath. He had also let his hair grow long and kept it out of his face with a headband, reminiscent of Rafael Nadal in his prime. Alcaraz struggled initially but eventually pulled away from opponent Safiullin, increasingly hitting powerful forehands. With each powerful stroke, however, his wardrobe malfunction became more apparent.

The better he executed his shots, the more frequently his nipples became visible. His loose-fitting brown tank top caused Alcaraz to constantly tug at his shirt between points to adjust it. Meanwhile, social media was abuzz with Alcaraz's 'nipplegate,' with various humorous comments making it clear that no one had missed it.

Alcaraz did not change his tank top during the first two sets. He continued to adjust it, but it didn't seem to bother him enough to take further action. While it's likely not his intention for his nipples to be repeatedly visible, it's also not against the rules.
