The goalkeeper was taken off at half time due to injury and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been informed that he will not be able to recover in time for the Algeria clash.

"Ikeme wrote to the Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday to inform us that he will not recover in time for the Algeria game," the NFF have confirmed.

A return date has not been set for the 30-year-old goalkeeper but several reports suggest that he will be out for several weeks.

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Rohr has called up South Africa-based Daniel Akpeyi as replacement.
