Senate President deletes controversial tweet

 
 
Few minutes later, the Senate President replied in a tweet, saying it was not the job of the Senate to approve the appointment of service chiefs.

The twittosphere has been awash with the Senate President’s controversial tweet on the approval of the service chiefs’ appointment.

This tweetbarrassment started when a young Nigerian with the Twitter handle @chinair tweeted the Senate President saying he hoped they would re-convene to approve the appointment of the service chiefs.

Unfortunately, the tweet went viral and the Senate President has been bashed for his unguarded tweet.

Pulse Nigeria investigated, and found out that the Senate President deleted the controversial tweet, and issued a press release via his timeline, and what seems like a denial.

Twitter followers got angry at the press release and lashed back immediately.

In 2013, Justice Adamu Bello ruled that the appointments of the service chiefs without the approval of the National Assembly’s was null and void because they did not conform to Section 18 (1) and (2) of the Armed Forces Act, Cap. A20, Laws of the Federation.
