Buendia close to new Aston Villa contract

Emiliano Buendia is closing in on a new contract with Aston Villa, according to the Daily Mail. The 29-year-old attacking midfielder's current deal expires at the end of the season, with negotiations having opened last month. The report suggests Buendia will put pen to paper on a new deal running until June 2029, extending his stay at Villa Park by a further two years.

Buendia has started every game for his side this season, cementing his place as an integral player for manager Unai Emery over the past year. The Argentine playmaker joined Villa in 2021 and had a loan stint at Leverkusen before returning in the summer of 2025. Across all competitions, Buendia has made 161 appearances for Aston Villa, tallying 23 goals and 18 assists.
