Boko Haram insurgents on Monday, December 29, launched an attack on a village near Chibok in Borno and left at least 15 people dead, reports say.

“They were about twenty, well-armed. They came in four-wheel drive vehicles and some motorcycles. Initially, I thought they were soldiers,” survivor Jonah Umaru told Voice of America.

“The man running behind me was gunned down as I was fleeing. Afterwards, there were 15 people lying dead in the streets,” Umaru added.

Chibok is the town from which over 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped in April. They are still in captivity.
