Nigeria says it doesn’t need UN’s help to combat terrorists

Nigeria has said that it does not need the help of the United Nations or the African Union to combat terrorist group, Boko Haram.

This was stated by National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki on Friday, January 23, during an interview on the BBC World Service.

Dasuki had earlier stated that the war against the sect was being hampered by cowards.

He added however that no wider assistance would be necessary as Nigeria and its partners could handle the threat.

“It's something that we can do. It's absolutely something we can do,” Dasuki said.

“I think as it is we are in good shape to address the issue with those partners, Niger, Chad and Cameroon," he added

The NSA had also earlier called for the postponement of the upcoming General Elections which are slated to begin in February but the suggestion has been strongly opposed.
