Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had gone on a rampage in Aba and environs after soldiers allegedly attacked the house of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in Umiahia last Thursday.
The suspected IPOB militants were said to have set the police station at the Ariaria international market, Aba, on fire.

Following the unrest, the Nigeria Army on Friday labeled the IPOB a terrorist group.
Kanu has, however, petitioned the United Nations, the European Union, the United States and Russia to intervene in the matter before it escalates further.
