Benfica, Barcelona, and Club Brugge are closely monitoring the progress of Gabriel Wesseh, an 18-year-old American midfielder playing for Fredrikstad who has emerged as one of the standout revelations in the Norwegian top flight.
The young talent, who made the move from Atlanta United to northern Europe in the summer, has quickly turned heads with impressive displays, registering two goals and two assists in nine appearances. He has also earned a call-up to the United States Under-19 national team.
According to reports from Norway, Barcelona are currently tracking him most closely and have scouted him on several occasions. However, Benfica and Club Brugge are also keeping tabs on his development, while the Norwegian outfit are already eager to secure him to a new contract extension.
For Benfica, this interest aligns with their recent trend of tapping into the Nordic market. Aursnes and Schjelderup are both Norwegian, while the Danish Tengstedt was signed from Norwegian side Rosenborg.
