After six rounds of action, the stage is finally set for the showdown between Serbia's two biggest clubs—a clash that predictably commands the attention of the entire continent.

Every fixture in EuroLeague Round 7 sits firmly in the shadow of the Eternal Derby. Even the blockbuster clash in Athens between Olympiacos and Fenerbahce has taken a back seat, as the rivalry between the Black-and-Whites and the Red-and-Whites is poised to capture the basketball world's attention once again.

With anticipation reaching fever pitch for a game that could easily come down to a single possession, the spotlight falls squarely on the two playmakers: Carlik Jones and Chris Jones, who will go head-to-head for the first time as leaders of their respective sides on Europe's grandest stage.

Carlik Jones – Can He Carry Partizan on His Own?

From the opening weeks of the season, Carlik Jones has established himself as the engine of Partizan's offense, with virtually every possession running through him for the "Steamroller".

Partizan will eventually look to ease his workload following Wednesday night's blockbuster signing of Antonio Reeves, but the former Kentucky standout will not be in the lineup for the clash against Crvena zvezda Meridianbet.

Across the first three rounds, Carlik was dominant, orchestrating a Partizan side that surged to the top of the EuroLeague standings. However, opposing coaches quickly adjusted, turning their entire defensive focus toward Jones. His production dipped, particularly during last week's double-round week, and without his peak form, Partizan suffered tough defeats accompanied by dismal shooting percentages.

Everyone knows how motivated Jones will be against Zvezda, determined to take down Partizan's fiercest rival. However, the Red-and-Whites have plenty of defensive stoppers to throw at him. Nick Weiler-Babb will spearhead that effort, with Ognjen Dobrić and David Kramer also set to rotate onto Partizan's star guard.

Jones—along with the Partizan faithful—firmly believes the South Sudan international is one of the premier guards in the EuroLeague, and Thursday night offers him the perfect stage to prove it once more.

Chris Jones – A Derby Debut for Zvezda's Leader

Crvena zvezda hit the mark with most of their summer recruitment, but Chris Jones—formerly of Valencia and Hapoel Tel Aviv, among others—appears to be their most impactful addition.

The Mali Kalemegdan side secured a true floor general: a player who dictates the tempo, scores from mid-range, and, most importantly, takes command when the game is on the line—as ASVEL found out the hard way.

This will be the first Eternal Derby for Jones. While he has never experienced an atmosphere quite like this, his veteran poise means the cauldron of the Belgrade Arena is unlikely to shake him.

Zvezda have placed full trust in Chris, who has naturally embraced the leadership role, and much of their success will depend on his output in this direct duel against his namesake.

Carlik versus Chris: Partizan's floor general against Zvezda's primary playmaker. While they may not spend every possession guarding one another due to defensive specialists on both sides, their battle for backcourt supremacy—especially in crunch time—could very well decide the outcome of the season's first derby.

Carlik Jones or Chris Jones: this town is only big enough for one.
