Banana Island triathlon to hold, January 30

RDM is proud to be part of the first Banana Island triathlon, the RDM Banana Runners Sprint Triathlon 2016.

This RDM sponsored Swim-bike-run tour is scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Banana Fun Runners Camp, Banana Island and Central Park near shops, parking, athlete’s village and registration.

Banana Fun Runners - a community of sports men and women, are introducing a new sport activity, the Sprint Triathlon, a swim-bike-run tour in which people living in Lagos and its environs can be part of.

The community also offers Duathlon for sports people who just want bike and run. Participants can enter as a team or an individual.

Inspection of bikes and racing gear will begin on Saturday from 5.15 a.m till 5.55 am at Parc Fermé 2. Each athlete will be equipped with a personal Afri-Agri box with a number for identification.

Start Time:

·           Elite men group 6.30 AM

·           Elite women + youth (under 16) group 6.40 AM

·           Runners up group 6.50 AM

·           Recreational group 7.00 AM

Max participants: 100 athletes

Technical assistance for bikes will be provided by Mr. Geoffrey and Mr. Spiderman at a workshop situated in the Banana Park ferme Village.

Participants will be grouped into the Elite men group, Elite women and youth (under 16) group, Runners up group and Recreational group, to begin at different start times in the Sprint Triathlon.

There'll be a 400 meter swim (optional for athletes), a 21 k bike run and 5 k fun run in the Sprint Triathlon category while it'll be just a 21 k Bike and 5 k Run for participants in the Duathlon category.
