Super Falcons star and reigning Asisat Oshoala on Friday, February 2 rang the closing bell at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in Lagos.
As it is customary in the NSE, the opening and closing bells mark the beginning and the end of each trading day.
This ceremony at the NSE is a unique platform that aligns with the global tradition where stock exchanges invite business leaders of quoted companies and select individuals who have contributed significantly to the development of their economy.
Oshoala honoured
For the end of Friday’s trading day, Nigerian football star Oshoala was honoured with the duty of ringing the closing bell.
According to a media statement from the NSE, the invitation to the 23-year-old to ring the closing bell on Friday is to honour her for her outstanding contribution to the Nigerian sports industry.
​Oshoala is currently in Lagos as he continues to enjoy her holidays after a hectic debut season in China with Dalian Quanjian.
After joining DalianQuanjian in February 2017, she went on to win the Chinese Women Super League and Chinese Women’s Super Cup double.
She also scored 12 goals to finish as the top scorer in the Women’s Chinese Super League and was voted the best striker in the league
