Guus Hiddink was called in to take over as coach but his appointment is temporary ad he is expected to leave in the summer.

According to Italian newspaper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Conte whose contract with Italy expires at the end of Euro 2016 wants to return to club management in the summer.

The report states that Chelsea and the 46-year-old have agreed a deal and they are waiting on owner Roman Abramovich to make the final decision.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri and Diego Simone of Atletico Madrid are the other candidate considered by Chelsea but the former is set to be offered a new contract in Turin while the latter is said to be dedicated to the La Liga club.

Conto made his name in Juventus where he won three Serie A titles.

He is said to be taking English lessons in preparation.
