Monaco has finalized the transfer of forward Ansu Fati from Barcelona, securing his full rights. The news was officially confirmed by the Principality club. French media reports indicate a fee of 11 million euros, with a clause in the agreement entitling the Catalan giants to 20% of any future sale of the player.
The 21-year-old Spanish international, a product of Barcelona's renowned "La Masia" academy, has signed a four-year contract with the Monegasques. Last season, he played on loan at English club Brighton, where he made 12 appearances and scored two goals. Fati has already joined his new teammates at their pre-season training camp in England.
Fati's career, which includes 10 goals in 17 appearances for the Spanish national team, has been hampered by significant injuries. Since 2020, he has undergone five operations on his left meniscus, which has slowed his development.
The acquisition of the forward is a pivotal move for Monaco, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season and are set to compete in the Champions League. Fati is expected to help fill the void left by the departures of Wissam Ben Yedder and Takumi Minamino.
In addition to Fati, Monaco also announced the signing of Portuguese left-back Flavio Nazinho from Club Brugge. The 21-year-old defender signed a four-year deal, with his transfer fee estimated at around five million euros. He is expected to replace Brazilian Caio Henrique, who moved to Ajax.
