Frank Warren has revealed that a potential clash between Daniel Dubois and Moses Itauma could be on the cards if a rematch with Fabio Wardley doesn't materialize.
On Saturday at the Co-op Live, Dubois stopped Wardley in a thrilling 11 rounds to claim the WBO heavyweight title. The dramatic nature of their encounter suggests a rematch is the most anticipated next step. Following the fight, Warren confirmed that a rematch clause was in the contract for the defeated 31-year-old Wardley. The promising Itauma was ringside in Manchester, and his next fight is scheduled for August 8th at London's O2 Arena. The 21-year-old boxer is ranked number one by the WBO, potentially setting up another all-English heavyweight showdown for Dubois.
"There's a rematch clause, so we'll see what happens," the promoter stated. "We'll see how things unfold over the next few months with all these different heavyweight fights coming up. That will dictate what happens. It's very possible it could be Itauma, but there are many different fights and options. We certainly won't be making a final decision tonight, so let Daniel rest and enjoy his victory. As I said, there's a rematch clause in the contract."
"This is a huge fight. All of them are huge fights. All these heavyweight battles are massive, aren't they? Agit Kabayel in Germany; Moses a few months ago. The heavyweight division is so strong right now; there are so many good fights, and we're making them happen, and the guys want to fight each other. That's why they sign with Queensberry, to help us make these fights a reality."
On May 23rd, IBF, WBA, and WBC champion Oleksandr Usyk will face kickboxer-turned-boxer Rico Verhoeven. Anthony Joshua is set to fight the lesser-known Christian Prenga on July 25th; Tyson Fury is also expected to have a fight before meeting Joshua later in 2026.
