It was reported that Wenger has given the thumps up for the club to tie down the Nigerian forward to a new deal that will ensure his future at the club is settled.

Ahead of Arsenal’s trip to the West Ham over the weekend, Wenger confirmed that the forward has signed an improved deal.

“We are discussing extending his contract at the moment. He’s a real Arsenal person because he’s been here since the age of eight,” Wenger told Arsenal’s official website.

“He has three years left at the end of the season anyway but we want to keep him here for longer. If there have been some positives in the last few months, it’s how well and how quickly he’s emerged as a player with a good impact.

Iwobi joined Arsenal at the age of seven and was on £800 per week.

Although unconfirmed, his new contract is set to take his pay to £10,000 per week.
