Congo coach, Claude Le Roy berates CAF, Eq. Guinea over poor organisation

According to Le Roy, they were held down in traffic inside a bus without air conditioner under heat temperature nearing 40 degrees.

The Red Devils held hosts Equatorial Guinea to a 1-1 draw on opening day, but the manager is displeased; not with the result, since they didn’t lose.

The Frenchman who has been across several African countries, been to many Nations Cup tournaments (eight in total) slammed the local organising committee of the 30th AFCON tournament for poor organisation.

According to Le Roy, his team had to suffer through a hackling traffic situation in a bus without air condition and with the heat high at close to 40 degrees; also lamented the absence of their excorts who left them in the middle of the jam.

"It was close to 40 degrees and we had no air conditioning in the bus. We were supposed to have an escort but they left us in the crowd, in a big traffic jam. The police were just smiling (at our predicament).

"Games in competitions like this are won on the small details and CAF (the Confederation of African Football) have a duty to protect teams. It is not possible that players are disrespected like that. That is why we started so badly," Le Roy said, having criticised the organizers at first for poor hotel and training facilities.
