Access Bank celebrates women at The W Awards

Access Bank has recognized six women who have displayed exemplary aptness in their roles as business, career and family women at the W awards.

The award ceremony which is concept by the financial institution was held in Lagos on December 10, 2015, at the Access Conference 2015.

The women nominated were selected based on their achievements and contributions towards the economic and social development of Nigeria. Dr Evelyn Oputu a retired baker and Chairperson of the W awards spoke to Pulse Nigeria about the nomination conditions.

“For whatever the woman did, it had to be beyond self. It wasn’t just if you were professional like the professional category. We wanted to see the impact that you had on the community”, Oputu said.

“We want to celebrate the sort of women who hold on to values that are lost, the more we talk about them, the more we celebrate them, the more they’ll be role models".

Outside of the awards, several Nigerian and non-Nigerian women were recognized and featured in “The Power of 100”. Women from different sectors including business, leadership, education, entrepreneurship, sports, communication, philanthropy, etc. were acknowledged for their input towards the development of the country.
