The transfer fee for the deal is reportedly €74 million plus add-ons, making it a record acquisition for Milan. This surpasses the previous club record held by Rafael Leão, whose total cost, including later compensation paid to Sporting CP, amounted to €50 million. Furthermore, Ramos's transfer is the most expensive in Serie A since 2019, when Inter Milan paid Manchester United €74 million for Romelu Lukaku.

The Portuguese national team player is Milan's first new signing since his compatriot Rúben Amorim took over as manager. Three years ago, Ramos initially joined PSG on loan from Benfica, with the Parisian club making the move permanent in 2024 for €65 million. During his time with PSG, the 25-year-old secured a total of 12 trophies, including two Champions League titles and three Ligue 1 championships. In 131 appearances for the team, he scored 45 goals and provided 10 assists.
